SAAMI Who?

is the abbreviation for the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturer’s Institute, founded in 1926 at the request of the federal government and tasked with creating and publishing industry standards for safety, interchangeability, reliability, and quality, coordinating technical data and promoting safe and responsible firearms use.

Basically, SAAMI is the organization that sets the standards for the industry.

Standards for ammunition are only one thing but they also test ammunition for safety, below is a video by SAAMI testing ammunition:

1. Will ammunition explode when set on fire?
2. Can ammo ignite when a primer is struck outside of a gun?
3. What happens when ammunition is dropped or crushed by a bulldozer?

Watch and see what happens when 18000 rounds are doused with gasoline and set on fire!
